OVERVIEW

EU banking sector is facing elevated geopolitical risks, economic and interest rate uncertainty. On the one hand, banks are planning to gradually increase their loan exposures. On the other hand, Non-performing loan (NPL) ratios increased for all segments. Regulatory capital and liquidity ratios have remained at comfortable levels and profitability increased, however a rise in net interest income is expected to stop. In addition, the operational risks continue to increase, namely successful cyber-attacks.
